To assist Military Police, Investigators and local law enforcers serving as interpreter during interviews
and interrogations pertaining to traffic accidents, larcenies, drug possession, assault, housebreaking,
and other disturbancies.
To obtain pertinent information and statements from US and Italian nationals with minimal supervision
as needed to expedite fact-finding process.
To serve as interpreter and public official when assisting Italian law enforcement and judicial
authorities in questioning US forces personnel. Coordination with other agencies and individuals
involves primarily the willing exchange of factual information and testimony. to assist US, military,
civilians, and retirees when they are involved in cases handled by the Italian law enforcement and
legal authorities.
To use knowledge of investigative techniques, Italian and US laws, rule of evidence and criminal
procedure requirements of legal hearings and court proceedings. To determine the scope of
investigations and gather facts through use of interview (both in English and Italian), observations,
contacting informants and analyzing records.
To translate from Italian into English and vice versa police reports of incidents, witness reports, letters
to law enforcement agencies, judicial reports and related documents. To serve in a dual capacity as
interpreter/translator for the Desk Sergeant, the MPI, Customs Police, and as Investigator and
Assistant for the Provost Marshal.
To maintain liaison with numerous Italian, civilian, and military agencies solving problems and conflicts
arising from complex situations where US personnel are subject to both military and civil penal codes
and/or civil code. |

proper distribution and all deadlines are met. To revise and correct translations made by personnel
from other offices.
To provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from Italian into English, and vice versa.
To transcribe, draft, and prepare English and Italian correspondence, briefing charts, graphs,
statistics, computations, and other pertinent textual and tabular material as required. |
