WORK EXPERIENCE: Jan 2007 – till date: Senior Copy Editor, The Times of India, Kolkata 1. Reporting for the main edition and supplements. 2. Subbed copies, making them tight, free from grammatical and factual errors and giving catchy headlines. 3. Broke several stories such as how people posed as security guards and extorted money from cab drivers by letting them park at a No Parking zone. 4. Went undercover to expose a sex racket in Salt Lake area. 5. Wrote several property stories, and business copies, interviewed many chairman-managing directors of public sector units in Kolkata. 6. Developed a flair for business reporting. 7. Learnt how to upload matters on to ‘kolkatamirror.com’, the portal of Times of India. Put in many stories there as well. 8. Shot most of the pictures for my own stories. Also went out in riotous situation to get pictures.
Feb 2004 – Jan 2007: Reporter-cum-sub-editor, The Statesman:
1. In charge of the Statesman afternoon edition.
2. Responsibilities include reporting, editing copies and making pages.
3. Broken several stories such as the KMC trying to take over a private property to make a burial ground, before the KMC elections, how pirated CDs of films were being sold before the release of films and places like Ballygunj Park Road turning into a hot spot for junkies and pickpockets who sell stolen electronic equipment.
4. Undertook several under-cover operations such as posing as a student who was looking for a fake marks sheet and even managed to get a blank marks sheet of the CU and a certificate of passing the entrance examination of CA foundation.
5. Had reviewed films and drawn a lot of appreciation for the reviews.
6. Had been instrumental in revamping the edition in terms of content and look.
7. Had received an increment for not taking a single leave and putting in extraordinary effort and interest in the paper by turning up on holidays and working on the new layout of the paper.

Can read and speak in Urdu and Arabic.
