 Yemen
 
Formerly two separate countries, Yemen was united in 1990. The north is mountainous, with a narrow, fertile coastal strip on the Red Sea coast , where cotton and grapes are grown. The arid Rub ' al Khali desert, or " Empty Quarter" covers the northeast. Yemen's main source of income is oil, some of which is refined in the port of Aden. Yemen is in the Middle East, in the South of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Red Sea, west of Oman and south of Saudi Arabia.
 
HISTORY
 
Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen (Jumhuuriyya al-Yamaniyya) is a Middle Eastern country located on the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia.Yemen's territory includes over 200 islands, the largest of which is Socotra, about 415 kilometres (259 miles) to the south of Yemen, off the coast of Somalia. It is the only republic on the Arabian Peninsula.Yemen is one of the oldest centers of civilization in the world.
 
POLITICS
 
Yemen is a republic with a bicameral legislature. Under the constitution, an elected president, an elected 301-seat House of Representatives, and an appointed 111-member Shura Council share power. The president is head of state, and the Prime Minister is head of government. The constitution provides that the president be elected by popular vote from at least two candidates endorsed by government; the Prime Minister is appointed by the president.

The presidential term of office is seven years, and the parliamentary term of elected office is six years. President Ali Abdullah saleh became the first elected President in reunited Yemen in 1999 and most recently was re -elected in september of 2006 after an initial reluctance to run once more. His victory was marked by an election that international observers judged to be generally free and fair. Popular demonstrations and editorials of support in major papers helped change his mind to run again.
 
CLIMATE
 
Extreme humidity combines with high temperatures—as high as 54°C (129°F) in the shade—to produce a stiflingly hot climate. During January and February, however, the temperature averages about 20°C (68°F). The climate of the highlands is generally considered the best in Arabia. Summers are temperate and winters are cool, with some frost. Rainfall in the highlands ranges from 41 cm at Sana to 81 cm in the monsoon area of the extreme southwest. The average year-round temperature at Sana is 18°C (64°F).
 
ECONOMY
 
Yemen produces fine coffee beans, and coffee drinking is thought to have originated here. Mocha coffee is named after the port of Al- Makha from where it was exported. Yemen's chew at, shoots of a narcotic shrub , with coffee.Yemen's modern capital , sana, sits in the centre of the country , 2380 m (7808 ft) above sea level .with a population of about half a million, it is a modern commercial and industrial centre with historic buildings , markets (souks) , and ornately decorated mosques.yemini riyal is the currency and Arabic is the language spoken .Muslim is the religion practiced.
 
PEOPLE
 
Yemenite Jews once formed a sizeable Jewish minority in Yemen with a distinct culture. They also occupied key industries including silver smiths and their influence on Yemeni culture is still discussed within the souks. However, most of them immigrated to Israel in the mid 20th century, following the Jewish exodus from Arab lands and Operation Magic Carpet (Yemen). In the early 20th century they had numbered about 50,000, they currently number only a few hundred individuals and reside largely in Sada.

Entertainment industries in Yemen are in Yemen are in constant growth and expansion. In the past it was forbidden for people to listen to music that included strings and other instruments. Music was limited to vocal and percussion instruments, Now Yemen has more than one satellite channel to export its culture, music, and videos to the world.
 
Location & Neighbourhood:
 
Referred as the British Virgin Islands, they are called so in distinguish the islands from the American Territory. Located in the Caribbean, to the east of Puerto Rico,the islands consist mainly of Tortola, Virgin Gorda , Anegda and Jost Van Dyke and include of 50 other smaller islands. Tortola is the largest island. It comprises of 16 inhabited and more than 20 uninhabited They being classified as coral islands are relatively flat and have steep volcanic and hilly islands. The latitude is 18 and 30 degrees North and 64 and 30 degrees west. On Virgin Gorda’s southern coast is the British Virgin Islands’ most famous natural feature, the Baths—a grouping of giant boulders forming a series of spectacular pools and grottoes.

Area:

The country is point nine times the size of Washington DC and has 153 square kilometers. The arable land is 20percent and crops constitute 6.67 percent. The other inhabited islands include Peter Island, Cooper Island, Beef Island, Salt Island, and Norman Island. The capital, main port of entry, and only town in the group is Road Town, situated on the south-eastern coast of Tortola.

Currency

The monetary unit is the US dollar.

Climate:

The climate is subtropical and moderated by the easterly trade winds and has Temperatures of average 29° C (85° F) during the year, while annual average rainfall is 1,250 mm (50 in).It has subtropical; humid; temperatures moderated by trade winds.

Coastline

It has a eighty kilometer coastline. The coastline has close-to-surface, close-to-shore species, like sardines, because our fishermen do not have proper equipment.

Exports

Its exports include rum, fresh fish, fruits, animals; gravel, sand.

Natural Resources

The agricultural resources include fruits, vegetables; livestock, poultry; and primary industries include fish and tourism, light industry, construction, rum, concrete block, offshore financial center. The islands’ many beaches, climate, and clear waters are its main natural resources, attracting more than 200,000 visitors a year, mainly on cruise ships and private boats.

British Virgin’s major trading partners include Virgin Islands of the (U.S.), Puerto Rico of the U.S.

It imports building materials, automobiles, foodstuffs, machinery.

Heritage & Culture

British Virgin celebrates fungi, calypso, reggae and gospel festivals which are distinctly Caribbean but firmly rooted in Africa. The Easter Festival and the Emancipation Festival are held every spring and summer, and so is the Christmas Festival.

Strides and Advances

Yemen has a strong communications systems. Its telephones have been 968,400 in the year 2006 and mobile cellular users which comprisers of 2.075 million. It has radio broadcast stations such as AM 6, FM 1, shortwave 2 as per (1998) estimates. Radios alone account for 1.05 million users as per (1997) estimates. The Television broadcast stations include 7 (plus several low-power repeaters) and has 171 Internet Service Providers. Its Internet users include 220,000 as per (2005) estimates.

The Highways alone has total; paved highways : 177 km It has 3 airports
