| The socialist Republic of Vietnam occupies the eastern and southern part of the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia, with the South China Sea along its entire coast. To its North is China and Laos and Cambodia are to the west. Long and narrow on a north-south axis, Vietnam is about twice the size of Arizona. The Mekong River delta lies in the south. Coastline
It has a water expanse of 3,444 km that (excludes islands). The coastline comprises of the beautiful beaches of Tra Co, Sam Son, Lang Co, Non Nuoc, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, and Ha Tien. There are areas where one can see mountains jutting out to the sea. The Halong Bay, has recently been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Endowed with natural resources phosphates, coal, manganese, bauxite, chromate, offshore oil and gas deposits, forests, hydropower.
