Culture
Ukraine culture is considerably being influenced by its neighbours in the east and west. But still it is trying to develop its own culture and preserve its originality. The tradition of making Easter Eggs originated in this country.
Ukraine has a long tradition of poetry dating back to the twelfth century. Poetic and prose works written by Taras Shevchenko, the most respected cultural figure of Ukraine, Ivan Kotlyarevsky, Lesya Ukrayinka, Ivan Franko, Mykhaylo Kotsyubynsky and other authors of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, were a worthy contribution to world literature.
Folk music, symphonic and opera music are among Ukraine's cultural strengths. The most famous of the types of music of Ukraine is called the “Capella”. Ukraine has plenty of traditional dances. Grachanyky, Metelitsya, Kozak and Chabarashka are the names of a few. |
