Youngest country to be discovered on the planet, New Zealand is a rare seismic beauty with outstanding attractions. New Zealand, an island nation in the middle latitude of the southern hemisphere, is the most physically isolated of the advanced industrialized countries. In the east it is boarded by South Pacific Ocean and in the west, Tasman Sea surrounds it. New Zealand comprises two main islands, the North Island (114,469 sq. km.) and the South Island (150,660 sq. km.) and numerous tiny Islands and Islets. Southern island has range of Fold Mountains with several high snow clad peaks.
This enchanting land is a hospitable island with contrasting people, flora, fauna and cosmopolitan cocktail of culture. Magnificent mountains, lush green landscapes, sizable Southern Alps and sun bleached atolls are enough to stimulate your sense and emotions.
New Zealand was not known to the world before 1642, when Abel Tasman sighted it. It is the most recent major landmass to be discovered on the earth. Abel Tasman was the first Dutchman or even first European, to visit New Zealand.
Climate is temperate throughout the country, which is considered to be mild and comfortable. In 1840, treaty of Waitangi was signed between British government and Maori. It was a declaration of independence fir New Zealand under British rule. No claim on New Zealand could be made on New Zealand without requisite permition of Maori. |
