Climate
Latvia has atemperate climate, with a lot of temperature variations. Like much of Europe it is moderated by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Summer is warm with relatively mild weather in spring and autumn. Temperature ranges from 16 to 18 degrees in the month of July. Winter that lasts from November to mid-March can be very cold. January and February experiences chilly wintry conditions with a temperature falling to about - 4°C especially during the daytime.
Latvia's proximity to the sea brings high levels of humidity and precipitation. Annual precipitation averages between 560 and 790 mm. Rainfall is heaviest in July and August. Snow covers the ground for two to four months of the year, sometimes longer.
