The Country History

It is believed that fishers and hunters were the earliest settlers in Japan in the upper Paleolithic period. In the middle of the 6th century Buddhism became the state religion, which was introduced to Japan from China. At the time Buddhism was in the process of spreading roots in the country, Shinto was already prevailing religion in Japan. Obvious consequences came as clashes between both the religions. But rivalry was soon diffused as Shinto deities were presented as manifestation of Buddha and from then both religions grew together.

Military class of Japan is known as samurai. They dominated Japan till 1000 AD. History of Japan is packed with wars. Korea has always been regarded as ‘dagger pointed at the heart of Japan’ by Japanese leader and common people. For claiming possession over Korean peninsula, it involved in two wars. In1894-95, it involved with empire of China and with USSR in 1904-05. Monopoly of Japanese supremacy in Asia was conveyed clear after it defeated both the countries in wars, culminating free hand in Korean peninsula. It was awarded with certain rights over Manchuria and southern Sakhalin as a result of Treaty of Portsmouth with Russia. On December 1941, Japan launched surprised attack on Pearl Harbor of America, destroying most of the American aircrafts.

The unprecedented and most devastating incident in the history of Japan was happened during World War II. In WWII, nuclear bomb was used for the first time by America against Japan. In august 1945, 67 cities of Japan were attacked with intense fire bombing for six months. Two major cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki were completely destroyed. 3 million Japanese people were killed in the atomic bombing. An aftermath of nuclear radiations has been visibly experienced till recent, as genetic mutation is noticeable in newborn.
