Government
Form of government in Japanese is parliamentary democracy. Parliament is bicameral and known as Diet. Upper house is House of Councillors and House of Representative is lower house. House of Councillors is upper house because it is stable and never dissolves, whereas maximum tenure for lower house is four years, as general election is held at every four years. It dissolves at every four years. It can be dissolve even at the consent of prime minister. However, Lower house has all the powers. While power of upper house is limited. Total number of parliamentarians in House of Representative is 480 and 242 in House of Councillor. First general election in Japanese was held in 1890.
Legislative, executive and judiciary are the main branches of the government. Diet of Japanese comprises legislature of Japanese. Prime minister is the chief executive. He is the head of cabinet which comprises executive branch of government. The Executive branch is accountable to the Diet of Japanese. He has rights to take all decisions. He proceeds over the cabinet meetings. Judicial system consists of courts at several levels. Judiciary is independent from Legislative and executive. Supreme Court is the apex court in Japanese.
