Culture
The musical tradition of Hungary is remarkable. Famous works are the rhapsodies of Ferenc Liszt, the operas of Ferenc Erkel, the folk music and gypsy music. Hungarian folk music has its roots in the ancient Magyars. It is played with simple instruments like drums, violins, and flutes.
Hungary has one of the most valuable folk traditions and folk art. The most important folk crafts are woodcarving, pottery, ceramics, embroidery, weaving, clothes and costume manufacturing, hat making, blacksmith, toy-making, furniture making, bone and horn carving, egg painting and the like. The Hungarian applied arts are also remarkable. The products of the Herend, Zsolnay and Hollóház china factories are world famous.
