Culture
Greece is a country of great interests. It is proud of its diverse culture that is influenced by its location at the junction of East and West as well as its people who carried out different occupations throughout history. Greeks feel that their culture is a definition of their national and ethnic belonging.
Traditions, religion, music, language, food and wines are all an integral part of Greece culture. Large numbers of religious festivals are celebrated by the Greeks with great enthusiasm. Greek dances including traditional dances such as the hasapiko, the tsamiko, and the kalamatiano are usually performed at weddings and other celebrations. Contemporary Greek music that is most popular is the bouzouki (a Greek stringed instrument) music. Composers such as Manos Khatzidakis and Mikis Theodorakis are known worldwide and have done much to popularise Greek music internationally |
