Geography
France is located in Western Europe, bordering the Bay of Biscay and English Channel, between Belgium and Spain; and bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Italy and Spain.
France's capital and largest city is Paris. Other major cities are Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse and Strasbourg.
The landscape of France is varied. Two thirds of France is mountains and hills with Pyrenees in the south and the Alps in the east. Mont Blanc in the Alps is the highest mountain in Europe. The Loire is France's longest river. Other major rivers are the Dordogne, Garonne, Marne, Rhine, Rhone, Seine, and Somme. |
