Climate
Temperature is predominantly temperate. China falls in the region of Northern Temperate Zone. Temperature of different areas varies dramatically with complicated terrains. Geographical distribution of China stretches from plateau to mountains and plains in the east. Unevenly distribution of population is due to difference in climate of different regions.
Stretching from north to south, China can be divided into five temperature-zones. It varies from Cold Temperate (north part of Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia), Mid Temperate (Jilin, northern Xinjiang, and most of Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and Inner Mongolia) and warm Temperate (area of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Hebei Province) to subtropical (Hainan province, southern Taiwan, Guangdong, and Yunnan Province) and tropical (Hainan province, southern Taiwan, Guangdong, and Yunnan Province) climate.
