More then two million lakes are there in Canada covering about 8 percent of the entire landmass. Important among them are Great Bear Lake (largest lake in Canada situated in Northwest Territory, 31328 square kilometers), Great Slave Lake (deepest lake in Canada and 6th deepest lake in the world with 614 meters depth) and Chilko Lake is the highest major lake in Canada.
Although most of the landmass is plain, land that is used for agriculture purpose and fertile is very less and accounts for only 5 percent of the total landmass. However, irrigation is done on 7,200 sq km of land. |
