Referred as the British Virgin Islands, they are called so in distinguish the islands from the American Territory. Located in the Caribbean, to the east of Puerto Rico,the islands consist mainly of Tortola, Virgin Gorda , Anegda and Jost Van Dyke and include of 50 other smaller islands. Tortola is the largest island. It comprises of 16 inhabited and more than 20 uninhabited They being classified as coral islands are relatively flat and have steep volcanic and hilly islands. The latitude is 18 and 30 degrees North and 64 and 30 degrees west. On Virgin Gorda’s southern coast is the British Virgin Islands’ most famous natural feature, the Baths—a grouping of giant boulders forming a series of spectacular pools and grottoes.
Area:
The country is point nine times the size of Washington DC and has 153 square kilometers. The arable land is 20percent and crops constitute 6.67 percent. The other inhabited islands include Peter Island, Cooper Island, Beef Island, Salt Island, and Norman Island. The capital, main port of entry, and only town in the group is Road Town, situated on the south-eastern coast of Tortola.

The monetary unit is the US dollar.

The climate is subtropical and moderated by the easterly trade winds and has Temperatures of average 29° C (85° F) during the year, while annual average rainfall is 1,250 mm (50 in).It has subtropical; humid; temperatures moderated by trade winds.
Coastline
It has a eighty kilometer coastline. The coastline has close-to-surface, close-to-shore species, like sardines, because our fishermen do not have proper equipment.

Its exports include rum, fresh fish, fruits, animals; gravel, sand.

The agricultural resources include fruits, vegetables; livestock, poultry; and primary industries include fish and tourism, light industry, construction, rum, concrete block, offshore financial center. The islands’ many beaches, climate, and clear waters are its main natural resources, attracting more than 200,000 visitors a year, mainly on cruise ships and private boats.

Heritage & Culture
British Virgin celebrates fungi, calypso, reggae and gospel festivals which are distinctly Caribbean but firmly rooted in Africa. The Easter Festival and the Emancipation Festival are held every spring and summer, and so is the Christmas Festival.

The recent International trade of British Virgin Lands is responsible for 78% of national income and it provides services in two of the most competitive industries tourist and financial services. It has marine and land environments that have been equally recognized for the expansion in tourist services, physical infrastructure developments and housing. The environment makes tourism the most dynamic sector in the economy of the British Virgin Islands.
