The Country History
Pre Columbia inhabitants are supposed to be the indigenous people of Brazil. European settlers came to Brazil in sixteenth century. Portuguese was the first European to arrive Brazil. They discovered Brazil five centuries ago. Brazil remains colony of Portuguese for four centuries (16th to 19th century). Portuguese influence is apparent on every aspect of cultural and social life.
The country became self-governing dominion on September 7; 1822. The form of government Brazil adopted was constitutional monarchy. There are twenty-six states and one federal state in Brazil. The form of government Brazil adopted was federal republic.
